So the doctors visit went well (minus the 1.5 hour plus wait). He basically said we need to switch my blood pressure medicine to one that is safe for pregnancy. So I start weaning myself off the others for a week then switch to this new kind Aldomet. After my BP gets under control on that then I can quit taking the BCPs but he didn't want me to completely shock my system but doing it all at once. I asked him about taking prenatal vitamins and he said not to start until I'm off the pill. Anyone have any recommendations on vitamins?
Other than that he said I should be fine. I know personally that my weight is not helping. I MUST commit to exercising daily and eating better. I just have such a hard time with it.

Wow! Exciting! Cool! (I could keep going.) As for the prenatals, you don't really need anything fancy...just a certain amount (that I don't remember) of folic acid. My doctor first prescribed one that was $40 a month because there was no generic for it. She liked it b/c it had a stool softener in it (oh the joys of talking about pregnancy-related issues!) After asking for a cheaper Rx, I ended up with a generic that was $4 a month. Just check what is covered by insurance and go cheap. You will be taking it for a long time.
I actually use the Target brand prenatal vitamins that are in the vitamin aisle. And honestly, I took those while I was on the pill after I had Annabeth, so I don't know why you couldn't take them. But Sara is right, if you are worried about it, just find a folic acid suppliment until you go off the pill.
Target Vitamins are good and also the One Source Prenatals at Walmart are good. Plus, you'll help me keep my job since my company makes them both. You may want to supplement a non-mercury omega-3 vitamin as well. Maybe a flaxseed oil or non-mercury fish oil. Stool softener is highly recommended and is usually incorporated into the prenatal vitamin. In response to Sara, usually the prescriptions vitamins are prescribed b/c of 1mg or more of Folic. Folic becomes a prescription at 1 mg. Retail prenatals have anywhere between 600mcg to 800mcg which will suffice or you can supplement a little more folic if you want. Should be no problem taking prenatals with the pill. I know...too much information from a guy, but I'm in the vitamin industry...I've learned a thing or two.
